How Much Does Cat Grooming Cost?
Cat grooming prices will vary by provider as well as your cat’s unique needs. As with any type of professional service, you get what you pay for—but you also need an idea of how much a service will cost so you can budget accordingly.
On average, you can expect to pay anywhere from $200 to $500 or more for your feline’s spa day. That’s a mighty big range, so let’s break it down.
Cat Grooming Costs Will Vary
No two cats are quite alike, which means their grooming needs will vary. Think about it:
- Bathing and trimming a short-haired cat will require less time, effort, and resources compared to a thick-furred breed like a Maine Coon.
- Cats with mats in their fur will need extra care compared to those with no mats. One mat doesn’t take as long to remove as two or three mats.
- Bigger kitties take longer to wash and groom than smaller cats.
- Some cats are simply wigglier than others, which makes them harder to groom.
Then there’s the matter of extra services, like medicated baths, specialty cuts, and nail caps. Not all cats will need these services, so your cat grooming cost will depend on what your kitty needs.
Our Cat Grooming Prices
Kitty Spaw’s mobile cat groomers offer upfront, transparent prices on our website. You’ll know how much your service is before you book and understand any extra fees you might encounter.
Let’s dig deeper into our 2024 prices.
Bath and Brush
A luxurious bath and brush will range between $213 and $228, depending on the length of your cat’s fur. This service includes a thorough cleansing along with brushing to remove loose fur. We’ll also wrap your kitty in warmth and get rid of that wet-cat look sooner.
Full Service with Mat Removal
Our full-service grooming is the cat’s meow! We recommend this option for cats who have at least one small mat that can be removed without shaving. We’ll work out the mats, then include two massaging shampoos, ear cleaning, nail trim, and a facial, all in a stress-free environment.
Price-wise, the full-service package starts at $268, depending on the number and size of mats in your cat’s fur. Each mat takes time and careful precision to remove safely.
Full Service with Specialty Cut
For cats that want to sport a unique style, such as a lion cut or a bolero, we offer the works, which includes a special trim. These cuts range from $278 to $287 and include two massaging shampoos, ear cleaning, nail trim, and a facial. Extra charges may be incurred for mat removal.
Full Service with Pelt Removal
Many mats that weave together form a thick pelt, which is harder to remove than smaller mats. It’s not impossible, though, so we offer a full-service spa package that includes pelt removal for cats who need it. This service is similar to our other full-service packages, which feature two massaging shampoos, ear cleaning, nail trim, and a facial. The package starts at $498.
Nail Trim Only
We include nail trims as a courtesy on most of our service packages. But if this is all you need (e.g., no bath or brushing), we offer nail trims only. This keeps your cat’s nails healthy while helping you save your hardwoods and furniture. This service is available for $90, with the option to purchase nail caps for an additional $48.
Additional Services to Consider
Our mobile cat groomers offer a wide range of add-on services to give your kitty the full royal treatment. These include:
- Sanitary trims (starting at $18)
- Half-belly shave ($38)
- Full belly shave ($45)
- Soft paws vinyl nail caps ($46)
- Deep conditioning treatment
- De-shedding
- Persian face trim
In some cases, our groomers may need to charge additional fees depending on your cat’s breed, age, size, or temperament. Here are some examples of why your cat grooming costs might change:
- Big kitties (10 pounds or more) require additional handling and time to groom and incur a $36 additional charge.
- Older cats (15 years or more) require unique care and incur a $30 additional charge.
- Wait fees, reschedule fees, and late payment fees may occur.
- For in-home grooming, if you are unable to provide a towel, our groomers can supply one for an additional $10.
We do our best to discuss all fees and services up front so you know what you are paying for and how your quoted service may change according to unique circumstances.
